Upgrade from GP10 to GP 2013

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I would like clarification on upgrading from GP10 to GP2013.  We use SSRS extensively with GP to provide reports to various employees.  We are not looking at upgrading our server to x64 or the current operating systems of Windows Server 2008 SP3 and SQL Server 2008. Will there be any issues using SSRS after upgrading to GP2013.  I am just finding contradictions in the information for GP 2013 Web Applications.

As always, it's best to do a test upgrade on a test server and check your reports there before doing a production upgrade.

I agree, you need to check each report AFTER the upgrade to ensure they are still printing the same information.

Don't panic.  We don't know which tables your reports hit.  It may be that most, if not all of your reports are fine.  But expect to test them and be ready to fix any issues.

Do you know we have a book on SSRS and another called Version 2013 Unleashed?  The 2013 book tells you how to use all of the new features in this upgrade.  Check out website at www.AccoladePublications.com.

Upgrading from GP 10.0 to GP 2013 consists of a database conversion.  The conversion will change various database objects - tables, procedures, ...  Regards to the SSRS reports, there is probability that they will be impacted should they reference any of the changed objects.
