Dexterity help in SQL table saving an empty record as yyyyyyyyyyyy

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am new to Dexterity, when I was testing I found a new record in  SQL has yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and 2 dots on above each y. When you lookup in the 3rd party window I can see it.

Any comments appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like you have saved a record after using the fill command on a field or the table buffer.

As Leslie said the ÿ character is ASCII value 255 and the highest Dexterity value.

It is also the maximum SQL character value in a Binary system, BUT not in a DOCI SQL System. See KB 910129 for info on this.

The yyy record is the highest value that you can have in a string field. For instance, if you do a fill on a string field (like in setting a range) the value will be yyy.
