Licensing NAV objects in Business Central

Posted on by

I have several pages, codeunits, tables, queries and report objects in my NAV license and am moving to Business Central. Do I have to purchase those same number of object licenses in Business Central, or will they be moved from NAV to Business Central at no cost like the user licenses?

    Hello,

My recommandation is to to check first on MBS portal if Dynamics BC On prem license is already activated for your account or for a customer account and download the license detail report where you can verify if all purchased objects are included or not NAV/BC Onprem licenses.

If your account has permissions to view the data and download the flf file and license details report you can see all info on MBS portal :

If you are not able to acccess and view customer/partner account data due to missing permisions, I would suggest you contact to the following regional operation center in your region as follows:

For customers/partners in the Asia Pacific region, please contact mbslques@microsoft.com

For customers/partners in the Americas, please contact mbscors@microsoft.com

For customers/partners in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, please contact mbsquery@microsoft.com

    Hope the above would help.

Hi There - The whole game changes when you pick NAV v/s BC licenses. In NAV you need a developer license to code through C/SIDE, whereas in BC you don't need any developer license

If your objects are migrated / can be migrated to series between 50000 to 99000, then you don't need any developer license in BC. All you need is an essential/premium license to access BC and deploy this extension to BC
