I need to find a check number from someone who paid us in March. The previous person took the check- we can not find a copy nor can I match the amount. Is there anyway I can search by check number? That is the only information I have available.

Try using Receivables Transactions SmartList, filter for Document Type = Payments and add the Check Number field to the SmartList. You should be able to spot the check number and its related info.
