Canadian Payroll Fails to update from v9 to v10

Posted on by 22,647

We are migrating from v9 to v10 in order to get the Canadian Payroll tax updates for 2012 entered into the system.  The version 9.0386 has been running just fine in the environment for the past 4 years and no major issues have been encountered with this database server in a number of years.  We have been keeping them as current as possible - based on their needs, GL, RM, PM and Canadian Payroll.

In preparing for the 2012 updates we recognized we needed to update to version 10.  Did this in test, did this on 4 other clients systems with no substantial issues - reports modificiations and security issues - but in all cases all data converted first time.

Steps taken:

Backup of v9.0386 (9.0384 Payroll) Server GP Code folder
Backup of all 15 SQL database file
Backup of Reports and R7131 dictionaries

Installed the v10 from DVD w/ SP5 included
Applied the 2011 Year End Tax UPdate Service Pack to get the system to v10.01779 before running any GP Utilities or GP exe

Encountered the DU6449 Online Services fails on update - removed from the DynUtil.set and Dynamics.set as well as from the Add-ins folder

Restarted GP Utilities
Encountered NO ERRORS in either the Dynamics database or the AOML databases while converting

At the Additional Tasks, selected Launch GP

Entered the necessary Registration Keys – in both GP and Canadian Payroll
NOTE the data in the window indicating valid data from v9 shows in the control window

After enter Keys in windows – restarted GP to access registered modules – did not rerun the GP Utilities – lauched direct to GP Main –
Note the version is as expected both on Payroll screen and the Main GP screen
When I enter the Payroll >> Cards >> Employee and select the look up there are no records to be seen in the window.
When I then attempt to select NEW – I get the following error - [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Could not find stored procedure ‘AMOL.dbo.zDP_CPY10100N_1
Click on More Info button - [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Invalid column name ‘PPayStatHoliday’
The following screen is a shot to show that data is converted – this is shot of the GL >> Cards >> Account >> Summary screen for a specific account
I will try to attach some screen shots to support the dialog above.
Long story - bottom line is that all the other companies converted with no errors - there were no errors shown during the update - and the only two databases to give me any issues are the two with Canadian Payroll in them.  Both generate the same result.
This is time critical as the client has to get payroll out in 24 hours.
