Suggested Answer

Restricting Finance pages access for Sales order processor users.

I am working on a requirement in Business Central where Sales Order Processor users should not have access to finance-related pages, such as the Chart of Accounts and other financial setup pages.
Currently, these users need access only to sales-related functionalities (e.g., Sales Orders, Customers, etc.), but they should not be able to view or access finance modules.
Could anyone suggest the best approach to achieve this?
Should this be handled through permission sets?
Is there a recommended standard permission configuration for this scenario?
Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

This would be best achieved through permission sets, I would do this by adding exclude permissions on the pages/tables you don't want them to access.

    Hello,
Yes, the best approach is using permission sets. Create or copy a sales-only permission set (for example from the standard Sales Order Processor role) and assign only the permissions needed for sales pages like Customers and Sales Orders, while removing access to finance objects such as G/L Accounts, Chart of Accounts, and financial setup pages. Business Central uses role-based access control, so if users don’t have permission to those finance tables/pages, they won’t be able to open them. A common best practice is to use smaller permission sets grouped by responsibility (Sales, Posting, Read-only, etc.) and verify the final access with the Effective Permissions page.
