Hello All,

I am having a problem getting POS 2.0 to work on Windows Server 2008. I am trying to move our store from an XP machine to the server, however, after installing and trying to run POS, I get "An unrecoverable error occured while attempting to start Point Of Sale. The application must exit". I have seen a few other cases of this issue on the forums, but have yet to find a solution. I have tried an uninstall/reinstall, and also installing SQL Server before the POS installation, to no avail. I would appreciate any and all help than someone may have to offer. I eagerly look forward to your responses. Thank You.

Hello Ryan,

This is the x64 version, which may explain my problem. It is not a domain controller, nor SBS. I am also running as admin. A user posted a suggestion in a different topic that I will try as soon as I am able. Thank you for your help!

A few questions for you.

1. Is this a 32 or 64 bit version of windows? POS 2.0 is not designed to work properly on 64-bit.

2. Is this a Windows 2008 SBS server or is it otherwise running as a domain controller? If so POS 2.0 will not work because of the use of Local Users which are not supported on a Domain Controller

3. Are you running the program as an administrator or disabling UAC?
