How to fetch value of field(other than CreatedOn) from latest child record using roll up field?

Posted on by 515

Hello,

I have Custom entity called ExtraInformation related with Opportunity entity. (One Opportunity has many ExtraInformation).

In ExtraInformation entity I have field called 'WNum' of whole number type.

I want to show value of  'WNum' field from latest record in Opportunity form. I already tried creating rollup field but there is no setting to find latest record.

Any one has idea to achieve it?

Thanks,

Ashish

    Hi PS,

Thanks for your answer, could you answer me in greater details, sorry I am newbie to Dynamics. I couldn't got what options should I choose in Start when and I also couldn't see my custom related entity in Related Entity list. (My custom entity name is ExtendedInfo)

    Hi Ashish,

Rollup will not work here - since you have a custom logic to update parent based on last created record.

You can write a simple OOB workflow which will update the parent record with WNum field whenever the child record is getting created.

    Thanks,

    PS

You have to create a plugin on update and on create of ExtraInformation.

Use below to see on how to order a query expression based on a field.
