Hello CRM Community -
We often attend trade shows and other events where we then import a large amount of leads after. If the individual is new to us, and therefore also does not have a Contact in our system, is it possible to create the Lead record and a Contact record during the import, so that the CRM automatically ties the Lead to the Contact? It is my understanding that the only way to tie a Lead to a Contact record now is manually within the Lead Record.
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

And, then, you can either keep using it or develop your own.

CRM does automatically creates Contact from Lead when it is qualified into an Opportunity. As you are aware you can still create Contact manually too. If you want to automate creating a Contact whenever a Lead is created, you can create a Plugin where you will have logic to identify the existing contact, if any or create a new contact and update it to the lead
