PO Copy Source

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

When i create a new PO (PO2) copied from another PO(PO1), does PO2 stores any source information?  In reports i need to list all the POs copied from another PO with source PO number.

Thanks & Regards

Akbar

    RE: PO Copy Source

Do you guys know if there is a way we can copy from a PO that has been moved to History?  Right now, we AP Department enter/match the fully received PO to history at month-end.   That process is creating problem for our purchasing department as they cannot use those PO's to copy from.

    Hi,

Iam going to do customization in Copy process to fill the target PO Contract number field with source contract number.

    Thanks again.

    Hi again,

Cool idea. I looked on the PO Entry screen and I think the Contract Number is on the Vendor expansion window.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Akbar.

On the PO Entry expansion screen you have a field called contract number and on the dates expansion you have a field called Contract Expiry Date.

Might be easier with Field Level Security or VBA to make these fields mandatory and you could then inquiry all PO's by contract number.

    Hope this helps

    Leslie,

Thanks for your reply.  Its one of the requirement at my client place which is a catering company.  They create a PO which prefixed by CPO stands for (Contracted PO).  A contracted PO is supply of items with predefined cost and has a expiry date of the contracted period.  As and when the items are required a new PO suffixed with SPO stands for (Standard PO) is created by copying from an CPO.

My client wants to know the list of SPO created from CPO.

Now i planned to go with customization when i copy SPO from CPO and  store the reference in customized table.

Hope this will solve the problem.

    Thanks & Regards

    Akbar

    Akbar,

I do not think this information is available. This functionality comes for the Copier Series, all of the tables in the Copier Series are Temporary tables.

Question, why would they want to know the source PO for copied items? How can that matter?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
