Dynamics CRM 2013(On-premises ) upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics 365 On-Premises

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

I want to upgrade my dynamics CRM 2013(On-premises) to latest Microsoft Dynamics 365 On-Premises

While doing the Upgrade will my Reports, Javascripts and the unmanaged solutions that i have added in CRM 2013 will support in the latest version or i need to redo all my customizations.

So any advice on the same would be help full

Thanks and Regards

Leonard Francis

The update process will republish all existing reports, but if you're moving to a new SQL-server, and have developed SQL-reports, you must update your SSRS-reports connection to reflect the new SQL-server. I'm not sure about FetchXML-reports, but unless your moving to a new domain they should work.

    Hi,

Yes sure will check to it. Still i need some more clarity on the reports side alone. If custom reports will work in dynamics 365. Since i saw some issues like reports template related will not work in Dynamics 365.

We use sis reports and added the solution there. Does the view support there. dynamics 365 has  enhanced many in reports so need some clarity on the same.

    Hi,

There is no updates release for Custom Code Validation tool for Dynamics 365, but this should help you to understand what is depriciated: docs.microsoft.com/.../important-changes-coming

    Thanks

    Hi ,

I understand when we do it in a Sequence way it can be checked and updated.

But in client system it provides a auto update button will it bring all the data to latest.

Will the auto update also will go in a sequence manner ???

    hi,

Do i need to check for all version like 2015 ,2016 and dynamics 365 for the java Script or doing a check in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 Custom Code Validation Tool will do it and will support till dynamics 365

    Hi,

I forgot to tell you that you will need to test all your Jscript code. MS introduced the Turboforms in CRM2016 and sometimes some references to the different Jscript files that you have registered are not been already dowloaded in your cache causing some issues

    Hi,

You won't have to redo all your customizations.

You should just check your c# and Javascript code that they are using the correct functions(sometimes Ms changes the nem of some function like going from Crm.page to Xrm.page)

    Hi,

You need to upgrade using following sequence 2013>2015>2016>Dynamics 365. While doing this metadata will be upgraded to the lates version, but you need to upgrade any of the code which is depriciated otherwise you should be fine.

Please refer this KB for upgrade process: technet.microsoft.com/.../hh699716.aspx;MSPPError=-2147217396

    Thanks

If you don't have unsupported customization you should be fine, and don't have to do redo any customization.

If your unsure about it - test it! Javascripts can be checked using the custom code validation tools: e.g. www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx
