Payroll tax setup for GP 9.0

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all, I am trying to get the payroll tax tables up and running on GP 9 but I wasn't sure where I could obtain the tables to import into GP 9.  Long story short, we had an IT person leave and then GP crashed.  I was able to install a new installation and everything is up and running, most of the data we were able to populate.  But I don't have the payroll tax tables.  How could I go about obtaining them so I can import them to GP 9?  Or is there some work-around?

Many thanks in advance for your help

Hi Richard, after some troubleshooting, I went ahead and did something similar to what you suggested.  Ultimately it worked and now I am able to manually enter info into the payroll tax tables.  I appreciate your help with this and wanted to provide an update to all that I did get this issue resolved.  Many thanks to all

Hi Richard, thanks a lot for this suggestion.  If I am unable to locate a tax table file from any of the servers I will definitely do what you suggested.  If all else fails I can try what you described and at least try to get it up and running via manually creating the table structures for SQL.

Thanks again for your help with this.

I would go to Tools->Setup->System->Payroll Tax and then Tools->Integrate->Table Import. This will tell you the table names involved. Then go to Tools->Resource Descriptions->Tables to find the SQL table names. You could then go into SSMS and look at these tables to find the structures and then create tab delimited files to use using Table Import.

Thanks Richard. We have NYS/NYC, NJ and Fed of course.  That's the thing, however.  When I go to enter manually it says code not found.  I was trying to do just that, since we weren't able to get the table import file, I figured just go in and do it manually, but that's where I am having the problem.  I went to the selection options you listed but it will not allow me to enter the actual tables since it indicates no tax codes are set up.  Is there another place that I would be able to create these codes so that I can then go in and populate the tables themselves?  It seems my issue is more that the codes don't appear to be set up rather than the actual tax tables.

How many tax jurisdictions to you have to worry about? You can always manually manipulate the tables using Tools->Setup->System->Payroll Tax. Having the tax tables is just part of the issue. You have ACA and modified 1099's to worry about as well as other things.

Ok thank you Bill, your help is greatly appreciated.  Unfortunately when I joined I found out they had not maintained their product support so going to the current tax tables isn't really an option for me.  I will go ahead and post the exact GP version and maybe someone would be able to assist.

Again, many thanks for your assistance with this

Unfortunately with Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 has been out of service for some time.  Now I know that in Canada there have been Tax Tables published for that version in a number of years, I am not so sure about the rest of the US or elsewhere.

If you provide the community with the exact version number from your Microsoft Dynamics >> About screen, someone may have a copy of a tax table that might work for you.

Do you know if you are current with your Microsoft Dynamics Annual Maintenance?  If so, I would suggest that you might want to consider planning - sooner than later - a migration to a version of the software for which you can get current tax tables.

Staying current on the Maintenance program is critical for Payroll users as that this how you ensure that you are always able to get the right data you need to operate your company successfully.

Hope this helps - and community, if I am wrong - please post corrections.
