Team member updated licensing impact on use of custom entities

Posted on by 15

We are about to negotiate a contract for a D365 customer service app. As part of the solution we have identified around 50 users who can benefit from team member licensing (only need to update notes or read records) however the number of custom entities exceeds 15; the 50 individual users would never exceed 10 custom entities but (dependent on their area of work)

  1. 15 team members use 10 custom entities
  2. 15 team members use a different 10 custom entities
  3. 20 team members use a different 10 custom entities

I understand they now only get the customer service team member app but can you create multiple team member apps that contain up to 15 different custom entities to satisfy my requirement?

Regards

Hi, don't mind this. It's in the july guide.

Hi Daniel, can you tell me where is that graph? I see a similar one in the july/2019 licensing guide (but with PowerApps P1/P2 option). In the nov/2020 guide the graph doesn't appear.

    Hello Hugo.

I'm afraid is not possible.  The team Member license will allow users connecting to "just see" the team member app, that is a special app.  From page 49 of the licensing guide, there's a nice diagram that might be helpful:

So if you have team members and less than 15 custom entities, Team member should be your choice. But if you have different sets of custom entities, more than 15 entities or more than 1 app, then you should aim at using PowerApps per user/per app licenses.
