Workflow - update address with a specific address

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All,

Does anyone know if its possible to do this:

When a new opportunity is created, i want to put the invoice address into the field called Bill to. Bill to is a lookup field of address which are linked to the account. In the address entity, i created a new field called invoice flag, 0 = no and 1 = yes. Only one invoice address per account.

Can I specifically put in the workflow that only add the invoice address where the invoice flag is 1? if not, any other ways to do this?

many thanks

sachin

You can't do a retrieve in workflow if your are looking for this? To retrieve records from other entity you need to write Jaavascript/ Web API.

In workflow, you can put a condition to check fields from related entity i.e. if billto: somefield is some value

    Hi Ravi,

Yes, in the opportunity entity, we have created lookup fields which puts in the address, we put what the bill to address is so we can invoice to that address. These addresses come from the account main address field which hold multiple addresses.

How do I put a workflow condition to automatically add the address which has a flag of 1 to show it is the invoice address into the this lookup field?

    thanks

    Sachin

    Hi Sachin,

You need to sher some more detila about your implementation. Are these (invoice address, bill to) are custom field on opportunity? The address entity you are referring to is your custom entity?

Assuming billto is a lookup field on opportunity, you could access the fields of this field in workflow condition.

This would appear under related entities (but again depends about your relationship)

    Hope this helps.
