External program unable to use OPOS printer

We are running Windows 7 64 bit using an Epson TM-T88IV receipt printer connected to the LPT1 port with a cash drawer daisy chained to it. We are using OPOS drivers version 2.5 SP10 and Dynamics RMS version 2.0.

We have an external program that needs to print to the Epson printer and it functions normally when POS is closed.

When we try to use the program with POS running we get an error about file/path access. The "share OPOS printer" option is selected in Manager and normal functionality works as far as printing receipts and opening the cash drawer. It seems that the cash drawer is preventing the OPOS printer from actually being shared with the external program causing the file/path access error.

This same setup worked just fine on our old Windows XP machines running the same versions of OPOS and Dynamics RMS.

Has anyone been able to solve this?

You could try to upgrade the the Epson OPOS drivers to version 2.63 or later.   Don't use the2.7 or later versions or you could have problems.  Also make sure you install as CCO and not EPSON CO.

After you install the EPSON CCO you might want to install the Curtiss Monroe CCO  from monroecs.com/oposccos_current.htm

RMS uses versino 1.6 but you should be able to use 1.9.  Check the version for the other program before installing.

I am unable to get this resolved.  Has anyone else resolved this?

You can always use the windows driver instead of OPOS driver. Check the EPSON TM-T20 U installation topic for more detail.
