Hi all,

I just want to check if anyone knows of any Microsoft ERD Documentation showing data entity relationships.

I am working on a project and I'm trying to find how the Purchase Order relates to the Journal entries or ledger.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thank you,

Mike G

    Hi Andre

Thank you very much for your reply!

I'm looking to join the Purchase Order lines V2 back to the general journal entities, ledger, or account.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Mike

ERD Documentation for D365 Data Entities
    Hi Mike,

When your question is about data entities, then the relations are very limited. In case of a purchase order, there is a relation with purchase order lines, but there is no option to find ledger entries based on a PO number using data entities.

Can you tell what exactly you need to achieve so we can try to guide you?

Good morning, afternoon, or evening :) depending on your location!

You can find documentation on D365 Finance & Operations data entities and their relationships, including how Purchase Orders connect to Journal Entries and the Ledger, in Microsoft's official resources. Here are some useful references:
    • General Journal Entity Documentation – Covers how journal headers and lines interact with financial transactions. You can check it out here.
    • Ledger and Subledger Overview – Explains how financial transactions flow into the ledger and subledger, including purchase order impacts. You can find more details here.
    • Ledger Journal Line Entity – Provides insights into journal entries and their structure within Dynamics 365. See the documentation here.
If you're looking for a visual ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram), Microsoft does not always provide explicit ERDs for all data entities, but you can explore Application Object Tree (AOT) in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations to understand relationships between tables.

    Hope this helps!
