Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central does not contain Payroll as part of out of the box solution. Due to high volatility of regulations governing payroll in many countries were in our strategy is to provide integration points for 3rd party payroll providers. You can read more about it here:

You can see a list of payroll apps for Business Central on Microsoft AppSource

Yes, as a third party, you need to pay additional for the payroll extensions.

Thank you very much for your response. This is the answer I was looking for. So would

you consider this arrangement as a third part extension/product of BC? Said another way,

is the NAV payroll used with BC priced separately for core BC?

F&O has a built-in payroll module, but Business Central does not.  There are third party extensions for NAV (BC) Payroll, but there is no payroll included in the core system.  The NAV Payroll extension is likely what the BC partner was referring to.

Thanks. I know F&O Enterprise Edition has payroll for US only. I am told that there is no payroll module in Business Central but heard that a BC partner told  prospect that BC uses NAV payroll. Someone, at least at Microsoft should be able to answer this simple question. Don't you think?

    I appreciate your response.

We were told by Microsoft that Payroll is available in the US but in the UK to use an add-on like Cerridaen or Loki the same as F+O.

Hi Ryan. Thank you. This helps. There is a continuing question about whether or not BC has a payroll module.

I am hearing from some that it does not. Others say BC uses NAV payroll. If NAV payroll, is it considered a module of BC or add-on.

We have put two articles live with some information, the table above was cited from it, this gives you 9-10 metrics

    First article - https://incrementalgroup.co.uk/2018/04/03/d365-business-central-vs-d365-finance-operations/

    Second Article - https://incrementalgroup.co.uk/2018/12/03/d365-business-central-finance-operations-part-2/

unfortunately there isn't an easy answer comparing the capability if you have a set of requirements then sure we could help you identify which one is best for you.
