Requisition workflow condition

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

Within the Approval Requisition Workflow Maintenance, I am trying to configure the workflow to follow a logic based on user approvals.

Basically, if the requisition exceeds 10,000 it needs to have three users approve it before requisition can be converted to a PO.

It needs to follow a chain where user 1 gets the notification first and clicks "Approve".

Immediately after user 1 approves, it will route to user 2 to approve.

After user 2 approves, it will route to user 3 for final approval.

I tried looking at the conditions in the workflow step that will follow this routing but not sure how to approach this.

Can you please provide some guidance?

    Hello Jay,

The answer would depend on whether you're on Dynamics GP 2016 R2 or not, as we introduce a new option on the workflow steps, where you can decide what happens to the workflow if a step's approval conditions do not match: Continue to the next step, end workflow path, or reject the workflow.

In both cases, you could have the first step for approver #1, then a second step that follows the first step for approver #2, then a third step that follows the second step for approver #3. Once approver #3 approved it, it would be 'completed' and thus available for conversion to a PO.

If you don't have any specific conditions that the requisition must match to require approval and just want all three approvers to approve the workflow each time it is submitted for approval, you can just set the three steps to 'always require approval' instead of specifying an approval condition(s).

If you need specific guidance, it may be easier with a support case opened where we can connect to your server and show you, otherwise we also have a ton of blogs for Dynamics GP / Workflow published and I'd recommend taking a look at those, including this OnDemand training video for PO/Requisition workflows:
