You need to add it on page with visible property =false so user can select using choose columns.
Did you tried experiencing how its done in Standard NAV. This is very simple always give a try am confident you can do it by yourself.
You need to add those fields in your page (at least as visible = false) and then as a user you can select if show/hide them.
Stay up to date on forum activity by subscribing. You can also customize your in-app and email Notification settings across all subscriptions.
