Initial Quantities for Components

Posted on by 103
Hi:

For practicing manufacturing in a test company, is there anything wrong with posting a Purchase Invoice beforehand in order to have quantity for the components of the finished good?

Thanks!

it depends on your processes. You could purchase components and receive those without posting invoice. User could consume those in production and post purchase invoice at a later time. You could also invoice right away for the purchasing.

You could also use an Item Journal.  The benefit of the Purchase Invoice is you can also practice your payables activities.

    Hi
I don't see any problem with it, you could also have a sandbox type environment for testing.

Nothing wrong with that, it sounds right to me. You want to have your components in stock prior to manufacturing the finished good.
