Lowest of the two discounts

We need to be able to configure our POS system to handle the lowest of the 2 discount scenario automatically without the cashier having to figure this out.

Example:

We offer senior citizen discounts, so let's say an item's price is $10.00 minus 10% senior citizen discount making the price $9.00, but we happen to have a sale that makes the item $7.00, we need for POS to recognize this and override the senior discount and give the customer the $7.00 price.

any ideas?

    Manny,

    Unfortunately the discounting feature in RMS is not as intuitive as one would think.  It does not know to do things like only apply a discount if it is lower or not to 'double-dip'.  To address this issue we have to tool called Open Discount that does watch for these things and bring a more intuitive approach to RMS discounting.  If you are interested in learning more, please drop me an email or give me a call.

    Correct me if I'm wrong Ryan, but isn't there a setting in Manager|Configuration|Inventory that allows you to pick the method of price calculation? The three choices I have are:

    * use minimum price

    * use level if it exists. otherwise use minimum

    * prioritize in order of: quantity discount, level, sale, then buy-down.

    I have mine set to 'use minimum price' and it has always displayed the proper price, which for me is the lowest price available, when there is more than one discount eligible.

    Craig,

    This is correct for stock pricing.  By stock pricing I mean Reg Price, Price Level, Buydown Price, Quantity Discounts or Sales prices.  RMS Does not respect this option, or rather does not consider other pricing options, when it comes to at POS discounting.
