Field Service Mobile App: Link Booking to Work Order

Hi,

I'm having an issue with the Field Service Mobile App (Android).
Out of the box, without further modification, the Booking calendar view is already quite usable. However, to be used efficiently it is lacking a connection to the Work Order.
The Work Order is were further details of the customer communication can be found and must be easily accessible by Field Service Technician using the FS app.
When the "Bookable Resource Booking" is opened from the calendar there is a tab "Service" which shows the Work Order Number. This is not a link unfortunately.

How can the technician using the FS App easily navigate  to the Work Order from the Booking? Can the Timeline form the connected Work Order be displayed in the Booking as well?
What is the intended workflow here?

Thanks!

Best Regards

Field Service Mobile App: Link Booking to Work Order
Good morning, afternoon, or evening :) depending on your location!

    1. Linking Booking to Work Order
Currently, out-of-the-box functionality does not provide a clickable link to the Work Order from the "Service" tab in Bookable Resource Booking. However, there is a workaround:
    • Customization Using Dynamics 365 Field Service App Designer:
      • Navigate to the App Designer for the Field Service Mobile App.
      • Customize the entity Bookable Resource Booking:
        • Add a custom field or button that links directly to the Work Order.
        • Use JavaScript or Power Automate to generate the Work Order hyperlink dynamically based on the associated Work Order Number.
      • Save and publish changes to the mobile app.
    2. Displaying Work Order Timeline in the Booking
To show the Timeline from the connected Work Order within the Booking record:
    • Quick View Forms:
      • Create a Quick View Form for the Work Order entity that includes the Timeline.
      • Embed the Quick View Form into the Bookable Resource Booking entity.
      • This allows technicians to view the Work Order’s Timeline directly in the Booking record without navigating away.
    3. Simplified Navigation Workflow
    • Suggested Intended Workflow:
      • The technician opens a Bookable Resource Booking from the calendar.
      • Using the Service tab, they locate the Work Order Number.
      • Ideally, the custom link or embedded Quick View Form will provide direct access to the Work Order details without requiring extra navigation.

    Hope this helps some!
