Partially solved - [CRM4] Problem with integrating a subreport

Posted on by 235

Hi,

I made a report with two sub-reports using VS 2008 IDE. I could integrate the main report in CRM without a problem. But, when I try to integrate sub-reports, I get an error message box saying there were a problem during import of the new report, that I have to see with Dynamics CRM Community or contact my system administrator.

I tried to find a log where I could pinpoint the problem and solve it, but didn't manage to.

So I would like to know :

- where could I find some relevant information about the error I'm getting when I try to add the subreport ?

- is there some kind of tutorial about using subreports in CRM 4 ?

 Kind regards.

Since I didn't manage to do it the way I thought it had to be done, I went back and decided not to use a List component. Instead, I put a table and incorporated a second table in the row group of the first one.
Now that's working, even if it is not so 'clean' as I wanted it to be.

The sub-report only has one parameter ; and this paramater is set to 'Visible'.

Moreover, when I preview the sub-report in the IDE, I get the textbox letting me specify the value of the parameter. And the results I get are correct regarding the value of this parameter.

The problem only occurs when the sub-report is intergrated in the main-one : at this stage, all I can understand is that the main report is unable to pass the value to the sub-report's parameter.

Many thanks to help me investigating this issue :)

Check your parameter on the subreport.  I have found that I get this error when one of the parameters is set to Internal.

Yes, I am. I can preview the subreport without a problem, giving it a correct value for the parameter.

But, when accessed from the main report, I get a message saying that the subreport couldn't be rendered. And in the logs on the report server, I get a message telling that the parameter for the subreport could not be set because it's read-only ; I didn't find anything making this sub-report's parameter read-only.

Edit: since yesterday, I could integrate both subreports in the CRM. The problem was with tha data source that was shared (and that didn't work) => I made a static data source for both subreports and I could finally intergate them in the CRM's reports.

Are you able to run the subreport preview in Visual Studio without errors?
