How to add control to block zero value posting?

Hi,

When user create new item code to return out, since this is new item code never build b4, AX item master COST = zero

When this picklist is posted, it will use the ZERO cost to transfer out from the WIP which will cause the final m/c accounting wrong.

how to block the posting if the cost amount is zero. so that next time users create new assembly code for this sort of return purpose will inform that person to enter the cost before the posting.

anyone knows this?

thank you

    Hi Sha2121,

    Thanks for explaining your scenario.

There is no standard setting for controlling the input for an item cost. You can consider a customization.

As workaround, you can also use the inventory closing and revaluation option to adjust the cost for receiving item transactions afterwards.

    Hi Sha2121,

I don't know about a standard setting that would enforce you entering an amount other than 0.00

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Sha2121,

Agree with your last statement that somebody needs to enter the cost before posting as you mentioned.

That should fix the issue as long as you can guarantee that this will be done and not forgotten.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

RE: How to add control to block zero value posting?

    hi ya,

    the process like this

Engineer create a new SFG partial assembly item code to return out from a project back to stock for certain reason.

Since this is new item code never build b4, AX item master COST = zero

When this picklist is posted, it will use the ZERO cost to transfer out from the WIP which will cause the final m/c accounting wrong.

this can be significant if the SFG or any assembly or part being return is high value.

In order to prevent this, we need to enter the COST for this new assembly 1 time before posting it.

QUESTION: this COST field in AX have no ownership since day 1

because this field is update by system when ever we received and purchased item or complete a production order (for assembly item).

so that next time engineering create new assembly code for this sort of return purpose will inform that person to enter the cost before the posting

    Hi Sha2121,

Is this a stocked item? If so, what is the cost valuation you have chosen for your items? What exact WIP are you referring to? Are you manufacturing the goods yourself? Please explain the process for inbound and outbound actions for the products. That will help understanding settings in your environment. Depending on your settings, the zero item cost could be adjusted/corrected at another point of time in your process.

    Hi Sha2121,

You would need an adjustment to prevent this kind of issue once and for all.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
