Grants Management

Anyone using Grants Management in GP?  I have been looking at the non profit and analytical accounting manuals but wanted to see if I could find others actually using grants management to get ideas of how others are using it. Thanks!

Thanks.  Right now that is what I needed to hear to get past the first hurdle with this new company.

I have only done a couple of these but what you describes does work. AA just adds dimensions to your GL accounts. Once you tie your GL accounts to the AA accounts additional windows will pop up asking the appropriate dimensions. MR will see your AA accounts and you can report on them.

    RE: Grants Management

Hey this is a perfect intro to my request.  I am working with a client - an non-profit - that is determined not to have an overly complex chart of accounts and therefore does not really want to get into Project Management by Chart.

Wondering ( as above ) if the combination of Analytic Accounting and Grants Management module will work for the client.

    Brief Overview

Client does contract work for 'clients' that pre-pay for the work.  This is The Project. For the Project they get an advance fee - say $100,000

Over the period of time that is required to complete the project for the 'client' the employees will record time and expenses as well as purchase materials and time (sub-contractors) that are then all charged to that Project.

What the Controller wants is to be able to set up (1) a Single Revenue source for the Project (2) specific Project related expense accounts, without adding them to the corporate Chart of Accounts.

What I see is, say Telephone (simple) Expense - someone incures 200.00 worth of telephone expense and it should be charged to that Project, however, the Invoice for the expense will come from the Cellular carrier who has that contract.  There can and will be other line items on the invoice and only a protion - the 200.00 will be tagged to be charged to that project.

The Controller would like to see a Project - Profit and Loss statement individually as well as combined by Corporate Departments who are responsible for a number of different projects.

The Controller "will not use Microsoft Project Accounting - as it is for Construction and not for Service or Non-Profit" ( her words )

So, hope someone takes the time to look this over and gets in touch.

    Thanks.
