Adding relation N:N

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have a business scenario that I need to impalement and I wonder if you have any idea how:

2 Entities, A and B , connected in N:N relation

I need to allow selecting from a view of B records , and connect them to A - is it possible?

From the view and not by using lookup from A

Thanks

    Hi Tali,

I have not yet written a similar code for the latest versions of CRM (I have some code for CRM 2015), but I think you would find the solution to your problem here: www.magnetismsolutions.com/.../filter-n-n-add-existing-lookup-dynamics-crm-2016-turbo-forms

    Have a great day

I will try to explain better.

if I am using the associated view and then add existing record, the system open the lookup with all the records in the view . I would like to show to the user only the records that are relevant to this record by certain attribute.

I assume only development will allow it - is anyone already did it and can suggest the best approach ?

    Thanks,

Yes its possible (if i have understood it right)

You have two entities, namely A&B having a relationship of type N:N

if you add a subgrid of entity B on A and subgrid of Entity A on B, you can easily achiev what you want

    Hi Tali,

I'm not sure I follow... are you on Record A and want to associate it with many Record B from the list view?

    Thanks,

As far as I'm aware, that is not possible with OOTB functionality. You can implement a custom HTML web resource that displays a set of entity B records where a user can select multiples and then associate those selected records to an entity A record using JavaScript.
