Apply Sort on function field at List Grid

Hello all, I have a grid list in which there is a column 'Document Number'. The values of this column are returned by display method and are string values with comma separated like 'DOC_NUM_001,DOC_NUM_002'. Since the default filtration is not working on this field as the field has method retuned values. I need to apply sorting on this field and I also don't want to disturb the default sorting behavior on the other fields. Should I have to execute query on data source but don't know when that query should be executed as it will be done by user will. Hopes for suggestion

    I am trying to sort the field as by 'Ascending' or 'Descending'. Its default behavior on other fields but not here

    Hi ArsalanJawedSherwani!

    You can't do it anyway on display field. You might create tmp table or view and using it as the datasource and apply any kind of sorting there.
