Can users verify vendor addresses while posting batches but NOT be able to change the addresses?

Posted on by 260

When going into Inquiry>Purchasing>Transaction by Vendor>select vendor>click Zoom button.  We want some users to be able to use the Zoom button to verify the vendors' address, but not be abler to change it.  Looks like giving them access to Card_0301* gives them the abilty to user the Zoom button, but they can also change the address.  We want to control who can changes addresses but cannot figure out how to give all users read only access to the Zoom.  Any ideas?

I have tried to create a modified security task using what's inside of Card_0301* but haven't had any success unless I give them the task that let's them update addresses.  Can anyone help?

    I`ll go with Vincent

in my view Field level security is the best option you can use. Either disble it ore make it password protected.

    Carole,

Do you have modifier? You can use VBA or highlight each of the fields in Modifier and set the Editable property to false. Assign that modified window to the users who aren't supposed to change the data.

It's tedious to use Field Level Security to lock/disable each field - but you can do it.

Vincent has the options pretty well stated except Field-level security is point and click. I do not think it requires any coding.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Carole,

I don't think you can make a field uneditable to certain users just via the security tasks in GP (the GP security model handles things more at the window level than field level). Your options are:

    1. Modifier with VBA - modify the Vendor Address window and add VBA code to control the logic.

    2. Dexterity - assuming you have a Dex developer or a partner who can do this for you, of course.

    3. Field-level security - this might be your best option, assuming you're registered for it. Also, it assumes you can do some form of coding.

    Cheers,

    Vincent
