Price for SQL access

My company Business Central. We have few users and we're trying to build rather simple reports with Power BI via web services (ODataV4)

So far it's okay but one of the entities (Company) has around 4-500k rows created each month and that is causing us trouble when refreshing. The refresh times out due to number of rows. With few tweaks here and there I've managed to get this solution on-going but it's very slow and takes a long time. Sometimes it even times out !

So I asked our vendor if we just could access our data directly, with read-only access, to the SQL server. The answer is yes, but at a price. Fee is around the same as a Full user.

My question is basically - should the vendor charge a monthly fee for this access and if so, what should the price be ?

Not being cheap about this, juts genuinely curious
