Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

location of mdf and log files on different drives

Posted on by 205

We have virtual server MDTOWSQL02 with two mapped drives T: and U:  Currently our production databases are on the T: drive.  We want to use the U: drive for archiving the databases.  We have 10 GP databases (companies) on the T: drive.  We will create new companies for the archive companies using Dynamics Utilities.  When we have created new companies in the past they go on the T: drive.  How can we create a new company and put it on the U: drive?  Or, what is the procedure for moving a company from the T: to the U: on the same server?

I assume since our ODBC connection points to the MDTOWSQL02 server that all mdf files on that server will appear in drop downs.

This is kind of more of a SQL question. You would need to detach the database and then when you are reattaching it you can change the path.
