Intercompany Chart of Account Error

Posted on by 105
Hi Folks,

I am working on Intercompany Module and have done all the related setups I am aware about.
Here, I would like to put some amount adjustment between two companies so I am using General Journal for it, however, my General Journal Transaction got posted in first company but while accepting it into the another company I am getting "IC GL Account Error" (Screenshot Attached).

Although, I have done the Intercompany Chart of Account, and Intercompany Chart of Account Mapping. Thing to notice here - I don't have similar GL account code in both the companies.

Company A - IC Account Mapping

Company B - IC Account Mapping

Company A's GL Account - 10 is the referencing B Company's GL Account - 20, this is what mapped in both the environment.
Is there something which is causing issue ?

    Thanks Yi Yong,

    It works.
This means we have to create a Bridge / Connecting Account (following given example 10_20) in the Intercompany Chart of Account in both the companies which is a reference of different GL Code.

    Intercompany Chart of Account Error
    Hello,

What the other users advised is correct.
You may want to study and understand more on IC Chart of Accounts.

Your Company A and Company B can have a different COA structure but the IC Chart of Accounts must be setup with the same structure.

If Company A's GL 10 = Company's B GL 20, then you need to create a GL in IC Chart of Accounts to bridge the two GL.

I will be using 10_20 as an example.
So in your Company A's and Company's B IC Chart of Accounts, you need to create 10_20.
Map GL: 10 to 10_20 in Company A's IC Chart of Account.
Map GL: 20 to 10_20 in Company B's IC Chart of Account.

Since you are not familiar with IC Chart of Account, I strongly suggest you to come out with a different IC Chart of Account structure.
For example, use IC10, IC20 instead of using 10, 20.

Can anyone guide on this issue, where the mapping is wrong.

    Hello All,

Thank You for replying to this query.

Attaching screenshot of GL Mapping in Chart of Account for Company A and Company B

    Company A

    Company B
Intercompany Chart of Account Mapping for both the companies is given in the original post.

@Valentin Castravet - Why do I need to map intercompany account 20 as GL Account 20 for Company B, whereas both the companies have different GL Account Code but they share a common account.

Would like to summarize it again:-
Company A's GL Account 10 is referencing Company B's GL Account 20
    &
Compnay B's GL Account 20 is referencing Company A's GL Account 10, which is what mapped in Intercompany Chart of Account Mapping.

In company B you need to map intercompany account 20 as GL Account 20. When the transaction gets to company B it's sent over as 20, not as 10.

seems there is an issue with the mapping
  • Intercompany Chart of Account Error
    Hello,

your error said that the IC G/L Account does not exist.
You provided us with 2 pictures where we can see the mapping between IC No. = 20 and GL No. = 10 for A company, and mapping IC No. = 10 and GL No. = 20 for B company.

Check your mappings for IC No. = 20 for company B.

If you do not have success, copy us your error details so we can look at your AL call stack.

    Greetings
