Import Contacts and Accounts in CRM Online

Posted on by 660

Hello everyone,

I am trying to import our contacts and accounts from CRM 2015 OnPrem to our CRM Online.  I exported the accounts view from 2015 into Excel.  When I attempt to import them into CRM Online, the Wizard never prompts me about mappings, it just brings me to My Imports where it shows that is completed but with no successes, partial failures or errors.  Is there some set up piece that got missed or is it permissions issue?  Also... since we are on GP, wouldn't there be a great integration piece of customers/accounts from GP to CRM?  Wouldn't that make sense to see this somewhere in CRM?

Much thanks in advanced.
Donald

Hi Donald, Dynamics CRM provides a few different ways of importing data, the method you mentioned with Excel is different to using CSV, which involves setting up Mappings , and informs you of the success and partial failures. Navigate to Settings > Data Management > Imports - and IMPORT DATA button.

Also there is a Free MS Dynamics Connector Tool that allows you to integrate GP with CRM, please note it is soon to be deprecated blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dynamicsconnector

Alternatively you can use an integration such as SSIS / Kingswaysoft or SCRIBE which provides adapters for both CRM and GP

    Hope that helps?

    Best Wishes, Raz

I just answered my own question :)  I overlooked the note under the "Import accounts, leads, or other data" from online help.

    Note

Your import will fail if you use a template that you exported from CRM, add a new column to it, and then try to import the data back into CRM Online.

Once I did this, it kicked off the data wizard and the mapping window popped up.
