Hide when Empty- Report Writer

ReportReport

Hello,

I think I know the answer to this one but wanted to confirm. When printing the direct deposit earnest statement, if the employee doesn't have an address line 2 or 3 it leaves two blank spaces then the city, state and Zip below the two blank spaces. I thought If I hide the address line 2 or 3 when empty it would move the city ,state and Zip up two spaces. But it does exactly the same thing. So I am thinking I will have to create a calculated field, is that right?

Thanks!

    Hello Shelly

I have done something similar through the calculated fields in Report Writer, all you have to do is to manipulate the conditions smartly and you can achieve it.

What I have done is related to the bank transaction entry, for the increase and decrease adjustment. When you post an increase adjustment, a whole section appears including the details of the party who (paid). On the other hand, another section appears including the details of the party who (received) when it is a decrease adjustment.  It was not logical at all to show two sections with each other, so one section appears and the other gets hidden depending on the transaction type. Calculated fields was the secret to achieve this.

    Hi ShellyAnn,

I believe you are on the right track with the calculated fields. I think you will likely need to make the City, State, and Zip all calculated fields as well to prevent them from displaying twice if the criteria is met to move them up to line two. If you can get the formatting to look the way you want I would probably concatenate the three fields so you only need to reference one calculation for the address line two and address line three.

    Good luck,

    Kirk
