    hello Leslie,

thanks very much for your suggestion. this is first time i am doing this i will see if i can get help for the partner. but one more question to you is that shouldn't there be a uninstall option from add and remove program to uninstall the service pack ?

    Hi Altaf,

You cannot 'uninstall' a Dynamics service pack. That's why you make all of the backups. You will need to restore the backups of the databases as well as the application folder if something goes wrong. If this is the first time you have done something like this I would strongly suggest you do it with the assistance of your partner.

     Kind regards,

    Leslie

Back up at least one local application folder as well, in case you need to roll back.

If the particular service pack requires the workstations to be upgraded, you can always upgrade one and then copy the appliction files across to the other workstations. Be careful with this if each workstation uses a local modified reports or forms dictionary. You don't want to overwrite local modified reports. If the reports are local, and the SP upgrades the reports dictionary, you will have to do it on each workstation individually. But the install instructions will tell you.

Always do a FULL backup before any upgrading or updating, but at least database backup for all the companies.

     Here is the site.

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/servicepacks/mdgp10_patchreleases.htm?printpage=false

You need to have a login for customer source to get to it.  Your reseller may be able to help you with that.  GP 10 is currently on SP 4.  You will have to install it on all computers then run utilities to update the server.

Just an FYI, service packs installs are not easy to do.  There can be some gotchas.  They have a document on how to install the service pack but if you are not too familiar with installing service packs then you may want to work with your reseller on assisting you with the install.

    Hope this helps.
