Automating Multiple Work Orders and scheduling

Hi All,

Please help me with a solution to the below mentioned scenarios :-

  • If there are multiple work orders in the same location, for same type of task (e.g., TV cable installation for 10 different sites in the same building, the Site Survey will be a single task whereas the installation will be multiple tasks). Will  the system be able to merge them in a single work order and change the duration according to a time estimation logic.  For Eg :-if there are 10 work orders of 2 hours each, Can the system club them into a single work order of 6 hours each (Only club those tasks which are common in nature)

  • Can we automate tasks schedule to accomodate 2 resources instead of 1  for the same task, to reduce the time required for such work orders ? ForEg : -If the task requires 10 hours, If  resource 'A' does it in more than 1 day, then can we have automate scheduling 2 resources A & B to complete the task in 5 hours ?

RE: Automating Multiple Work Orders and scheduling

None of what you describe will happen automatically, you could however achieve some of it using workflow/Flow/plugins.

For #1 you may want to consider a work oder with multiple incidents that could also relate to different customer assets. The work order would then sum up the duration of all incidents. Keep in mind that some fields are related to the work order, not the incident. For example all the jobs that you combine into one work order need to share the same service account and billing account. And if you have service tasks, you need to show the user which of the service tasks is related to which incident.

#2: You can manually create 2 bookings off the same resource requirement with a duration of 5 hours. Or create 2 resource requirements that can be booked separately (even by RSO). The problem I've seen with 2 people working offline on the same work order is reporting, e.g. creating a service report onsite without having a possibility to sync before.
