Integration Manager Upgrade--will it break GP 10?

Posted on by 80

We are on GP 10 build 1061 (I think it's SP2.)  We are seeing an error running Integration Manager build 1072.  KB article #942750 says to upgrade IM to latest build, I think it is SP5.  Our GP is heavilly customized (I'm new to this environment so I don't know what the customizations are.)  Please advise if we upgrade IM without breaking GP?  Are IM tables and executables separate from GP?  The IM SP5 release notes says only the following, which does not mean definitively that upgrading won't break GP:

"Please note that the Integration Manager service pack is independent of the Microsoft Dynamics GP service pack, therefore you do not need to be on matching service pack numbers between Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 and Integration Manager 10.0."

Thanks for your help!

It should not matter if it was running okay before.

The easiest what to think of IM is that it is a seperate application that is really partly MS Access.   The MS Access part handles the queries and mapping, then IM runs a macro against a GP window (even though you don't see the window).   The fact that it is a macro running against a GP window is what provided the validation, just like you were sitting down and entering it.

An eConnect destination is another story.

This is why IM will fail when running a transaction and the Transaction Entry window is modified.

So it is probably safe to say that if IM has worked in the past, then it is not going against a modified or alternate window.

I know that my simple explaination of IM may raise some folks eyebrows, but that is the simple way to think of it.

    So, you SHOULD be okay.
