Problem with MS Dynamics GP 10 Client on Citrix Server

Posted on by 140

We are trying to install MS Dynamics GP 10 on a Citrix server so mulitple remote users can log in and use the client simultaneously.  Everything seems to be working fine except when modified forms are accessed.  The sales transaction entry screen is modified, in our case, and when two people attempt to use that screen at the same time a VB error occurs and shuts down the form.  Does anyone know of any documentation on Citrix installations of MS Dynamics GP 10, or is anyone familiar with this problem?  Any info would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

    The code is pretty simple.  It sets up the connection (as an ADODB.Connection) and identifies the correct database for the user:

       Set cn = UserInfoGet.CreateADOConnection

       cn.DefaultDatabase = UserInfoGet.IntercompanyID

    I'm not sure what advantage Extender would have for this problem, but I must admit I'm not very familiar with it.  The customization works perfectly fine except in this Citrix enviornment.  I'll look into Extender, but please let me know if this helps identify the true problem in any way.  I also asked the network admins to examine the profile directories for the users and they found no GP-specific files in any of the profiles which doesn't sound possible (or at least correct) for this environment.

    Hi Jon, Would it be possible to achieve the same type of form customization with Extender ? would it possible for you to paste here a snipet of your VBA code that contains the data connection ?

    It's not consistent.  The latest one I've seen the most of is a "Type Mismatch" error, but the debugger always brings me back to the line with the datasource.  Since it only occurs when multiple people use it simultaneously, I thought it might be somehow trying to use the same object to authenticate different users and running into a conflict.  But I don't see any specific errors to indicate that.

    You did not describe the error you are having? Any specific error message?

    I should also add that the form modification is using an ADO object for a datasource connection to a database, and it works fine on the other 100 clients on separate workstations (and when someone uses the Citrix client alone).

    Thanks!
