Dynamics GP 2010 Security Question

Posted on by 2,485

All -

I have never played in GP Security, but now I need to.  I have a User that needs to be locked out of added or changing the GL accounts in Cards.

What is the best way to do this?

Thanks.

RE: Dynamics GP 2010 Security Question

The best way of course is to ensure that the user has no access to the "Account Maintenance Window " under Cards> Financial > Account. Now to know what security task grant access to this window, go to this link GP WINDOW - Security and type in the name of the window (in your case, Account Maintenance), you will have a result of all the existing security roles and tasks ( which is CARD_0101*) in your case.

Keep in mind that Dynamics GP security can be generally categorized as shown below:

    • Window-based: to grant an access to a specific window
    • Field-based: through field-level security, which will give you the ability to control the fields within the form, just as blocking or hiding specific fields for a granted window
    • Account-based: through account level security, as related to the financial chart of accounts

Furthermore, to revise the security of a specific user, consider the script provided by Victoria Yudin SQL view to show security roles and tasks in Dynamics GP 10 to manage the security of a specific user.

Let us know if you have any further inquiries,

RE: Dynamics GP 2010 Security Question

GP securities are relevant to windows, not an operation. If you provide the the access to GL Accounts Card window, user can do all the operation(insert, delete, update) from that window. If you remove the access to the window to particular user, they wont see this window within GP.

CARD_0101* -  This is the security Task ID used for Account window from Cards.

You can create a new task and assign it to role or modify the existing one which is assigned to the user.

    Hope this helps!!!
