Dynamics nav 365 Business Central Error while changin connection.

Hello,

we have installed Dynamics NAV 365 Client on 8 Windows terminal servers and also on some Workstations.

We have two connections on the server, one production instance and one test instance.

Dynamics NAV works fine on the workstations.

The problem is on the Windows terminal server because everytime a user change the connection from Production to Test or viceversa the client pop-out some errors about ClientUserSettings.config. The fact is that after the user click OK everything is fine an the user just go over the other instance without issues, but these errors are just bothering me and the users.

Thanks.

I attach the errors.DynamicsNAV1.pngDynamicsNAV2.png

    Hello,

Ah, that is easy to resolve. You can simply create shortcuts to every separate instance:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../starting-the-windows-client-at-the-command-prompt

For each instance, you create a different named clientusersettings.config file. E.g. prod.config and test.config, etc.

    Thanks.

    Hello Marco,

sorry but i would like keep on find a solution for this problem instead of a workaround.

I'd rather find out why ClientUserConfig does not work if stored in a DFS folder but works outside. it's just driving me crazy. Yesterday i've also tried to add file://localdomain.local inside the group policy for the TRUSTED SITES but even this didn't work.

    Hello,

To be honest with you, I do not consider this to be a workaround. You can even create different shortcuts and publish these to users desktops. The self created config files can be placed in %APPDATA% folder and they roam automatically with the user profile.

But on the folder where the files are right now you need to set permissions. Most likely the NST service account is missing permissions. If you start the service tier with a NETWORK SERVICE account, things may become more difficult to configure.

Hope it helps. It has been such a long time that I did this myself based on a support ticket, but it always was a permissions issue on the file share.

    Thanks.
