Hello friend,
chart of accounts balance is not accurate it is showing *3 balance.I found this problem in chart of accounts where account type is TOTAL.
for e.g. A is total account and B,C are profit and loss account so A must show the total of B and C.means if B+C=10 then A is also 10.
but in my case B and C are having no problem but A is showing balance as 30
kindly help.
how do system re-calculate balances in ax 2009.

I am very thankful to all your suggestion.after your reply I checked the setup and found that in the setup it is added 3 times which is wrong.I removed the total setup and keep one.now it is showing correct amount.

Then I think using the Management Reporter is the best option.
MR became available with AX2009 RU5 if I remember it correctly.
You can find out more information on the MR blog from MS

Rather than using total accounts in Dynamics where you always run the risk that new accounts are not included I would rather create all of those reports in MR.
Some of them are already designed and you just have to review and possibly modify them to your company setup.
Just take a look.

no they don't work with AX.we just hand over them trial balance report which mention total accounts closing balance as well.we are using AX 2009

That sounds interesting. Are your auditors taking a look into your system and work with AX or do you just generate reports for them?
In the latter case, MR reports might be sufficient and you do not have to worry about total accounts that were important in older AX versions.

Before you add a table to virtual company you must delete all data. When you add a table to virtual company, old data become invisible.
Can you check your totals setup data on database?
