V10 - Windows not pinned to main interface

Posted on by 60

Hi!

I'm an end user, know nothing about IT stuff. Our company recently upgraded to version 10 and it is driving me crazy..... plus I keep breaking it!! grrrr (IT believe I am jinxed.... maybe I should be  tester....)

The windows used to be pinned to the main programs screen/window

Now they are all separate and if I have a couple of screens open, eg Bank Transaction Entry, Transaction by Debtor,  Invoice and Cards. If I leave this window, eg go into outlook I then struggle to get on my windows back as they are all separate. This didn't happen in the previous version we had and IT have told me you can't pin them to the program???

Looking forward to some input and hopefully resolution.

Thanks!

    Hi David,

Thanks so much and I did miss mentioning this very informative article.

In the process, I even overlooked my own article, which explains some technical advantages from this major change.

Version 10.0 changes the interface. The blog post below explains in more detail:

    Hi Trixielix,

The answer to your query is, NO. This is how GP 10 is designed to be. And this is how GP is going to be in future versions also (GP 2010, also called as GP 11, is the same and we have it's beta all over the world being tested).

We must somehow contain our frustration and get used to this design. You may also want to read these articles on web, which talks about the pros and cons of this:

Discussion on GP General Newsgroups - Is there a way to turn off...?

Discussion on GP General Newsgroups - GP v10 windows : Can they stay visible?

Those are all some interesting Customer Thoughts and Community discussions. Hope that shed some light.
