Is there a way to make up fixed payroll deductions in a following payroll if there is insufficient pay to cover the deduction?

Short of using DIA, you can simply update the deduction card to double-up the amount.

Use Payroll Extensions for GP 10 and 2010 to use the deductions in arrears functionality to track those items. Payroll extensions are installed as part of the Human Resources and Payroll Suite. For GP 2010, use the Change option to change the installation and add this feature to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010. For GP 10, I believe you start setup.exe from the media and the suite is one of the add-on modules.

Payroll Extensions are included with payroll at no extra charge, at least for GP 2010. I think they are free for version 10, too.
