Data entity for a table without a natural key

Hi

There are new custom Data entity and a corresponding staging table. The DE is based on a standard table which has no natural keys. The questions is what fields can I use in my Data entity and staging table in order to create a unique key/index? None of the fields from the standard source table provide uniqueness and I cannot create an index on the staging table which allows duplicates. The DE is used to replicate data to BYOD.

Thank you

    HI Silentsquirrel,

Take any existing data entity in the Application Explorer and create a new one by duplicating it.

Rename and adjust/re-implement the newly created data entity by changing its data sources, fields, primary keys, properties, code, etc. Create the staging table and associate it with the data entity.

    More details,please refer this blog:

    Hi Silentsquirrel,

Blue is correct with this procedure. Note that you have to define a data entity key where the data management framework would know what makes a record unique. If it is only about exporting data, then the correct data entity key is not important.

    +1 Andre and Blue

    don't need key for export

for import, could easily recreate your own by copying existing one or building from scratch or wizard

The issue wasn't with creating the DE itself. The question was around creating unique key/index. Thank you.

In that case, can the DE key and staging table index be removed completely since they are not unique? Otherwise, there are duplicate errors when data is populated in the staging table during export.

Entity key is important if you want to export  with refresh type incremental and if you are not adding it would be full push all the time. What about recid of the table?

I did end up using RecId as a key, hence no more errors.

    Thanks everyone for your help!
