We have D365 online and Exchange 2010 SP3 on premise. When we configure Server Side Sync we get the "not in the same tenant" error. Does the domain need to be added to Office 365? Does Azure AD sync need to be configured? Any help is much appreciated.

What are the prerequisites within Office 365 to set up Server Side Sync? Users currently have onmicrosoft.com logins with their domain emails set in their CRM user records. Do I need to add the domain to O365? Do I need to add the domain and change user logins to use the domain? Do I need to setup Azure AD sync?
