SmartlistEnhancedExcelExport=TRUE

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

When I put in the following in the dex.ini file SmartlistEnhancedExcelExport=TRUE and then try to export something from Smartlist to Excel, Excel does not open and nothing happens.  When I take this out export to excel works again.

We are on GP2013 and I wanted to use this to get around the 5 decimal issue as well as making things a little faster.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rahim

    Rahim,

    To add to Jorge's comment... it's and undocumented feature, that when it doesn't work, you can't really complain.. On anther note : have you tried to replicate the smartlist you're using by creating a direct data Excel report with refresh-able content ? On GP 2013 I believe you now have your own Excel report builder (we do own eOne's Extender and SmartList builder), so you can create Excel reports that can tap directly into your GP data without having to open GP at all...

    Just my 2cts ...

    It is one of those things that if it works ‘great’, but if it doesn’t work ‘there is nothing than be done’.

    Probably you already know that SmartlistEnhancedExcelExport is a undocumented switch, the reason why is undocumented is because it hasn't passed all the testing.

    I have came across a couple of times when it didn't do what it was meant to do. If it doesn't work you just don't use it.

    It might sound obvious, but it is worthy to check if 'SmartlistEnhancedExcelExport' is referenced more than once in your Dex.ini.
