Thanks for your response. We do have relevance search turned on. I was a little dumb founded that only the Tablet did not have the change. I thought the whole point was to make the user experience the same across all devices.

The search you mentioned above is ‘Relevance Search’.
The following is new and plan for search in 2021 Wave 1.

Please note that if the Relevance Search is not enabled on your environment, you will not see the search box in the top navigation bar.
You can enable the Relevance Search from Power Platform Admin center, as shown in the screenshot below.

But these documents do not mention the tablet, if only tablet can’t update when you have enabled it, which means that it can't be supported in tablet, maybe you can look forward to subsequent updates.
