How to get GP 10 Metrics Reports

Posted on by 2,119

Hello,

We want to put some GP 10 Metric Reports (http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/en/us/using/gp-home-page-metrics.aspx) on our SharePoint portal. Does anyone know where to get this Metrics?

I tried right-clicking on the Metric, Export to Excel, but in Excel I got error message "Metrics are not available because the Microsoft Office chart control is missing." I have installed Office 2003 Add-in: Office Web Components but still getting this error. We are using Microsoft Office 2007 with SP 2.

Also I went into the temp file that is referenced in this Metric, it is actually an HTML but seems like the data are hardcoded there instead of grabbing it from our GP Database.

Could anyone please help me with this? Greatly appreciate your help,

-Elisabeth K.

     Hi Elisabeth,

I'm not sure that you'll be able to take those metrics and put them to the Share Point server... Yes they are HTML files used in the back, but the whole data is grabbed in the GP database based on the user-security... so I don't see how you'll get to manage those access in Share Point. The Share Point security is not linked to the GP security.... at some point it is accessible thru the Business Portal, which runs on a striped version of Share Point (WSS).

The metrics Dynamics GP displays on the home page of a user requires the Office Web Component to be installed to work (on the user's PC), either from Office XP or 2003. Office 2007 doesn't ship anymore with the OWC, so you need to download the file from Microsoft's Office support site.

You may better off to create dashboards on Share Point, either with Excel or with Performance Point server, or even SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).
