Trouble Restricting Smartlist Access to Financial Smartlists

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

GP 10.  I've managed to remove access to all Financial smartlists except for 'Accounts' and 'Multidimensional Analysis' .  I created a security role for a test user, displayed the financial series task IDs and un checked everything, yet they still these two folders in the smartlist.

Any idea why?

Right, I appreciate the reply.  Just trying to find a way to hide these 2 folders on the quick.  Security definitely more complex in 10 than 9!

Right, I was just saying that I built some helpful Smartlist bulder reports once that helped with the complexity of Roles, Tasks and Operations.  My suggestion still stands.

These smartlists were not created via smartlist builder they are default smartlists.

Is it possible that there is an overlapping task?  Did you assign just one Role to that user?  Have you looked at the security operations that are assigned to the tasks that are assigned to your role(s)?    I created some smartlist builder reports once, but you could do this in SSRS too, that basically lists Roles and the Tasks assigned to them, and then Tasks with operations assigned to them.  For debugging, it is easier to start with nothing, and then assign roles and then you should be able to tell which role is granting the access.  For example, if you have a user not assigned to any role at all, they see nothing.  However, if they are assigned to no roles at all, and they somehow still see those two Smartlists, then that sounds like a problem.......
