SKUs for Purchase Orders

Hi:

I placed a SKU on the line item of a Purchase Order, yet, that SKU's Location Code didn't default into the Purchase Order.

I had to manually enter the Location Code.

Why?

Thanks!

John

Is everyone using AI to generate responses? None of those responses were helpful.

The Location of a Purchase Line defaults from the Purchase Header Location.  The Purchase Header's Location defaults from the Vendor's Location.  If the Vendor's Location is blank, the Purchase Header will be blank, which means the Purchase Lines will be blank.

If the Header is blank, you can select a value BEFORE entering the Lines and it will put that Location on any purchase lines added.

The Item and the SKU do not impact the Purchase Line Location value.  The purpose of the SKU is to determine how to handle demand for that Item at a specific Location.

    Hello,

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
    1. Check SKU Setup: Ensure that the SKU has a default Location Code set up in its master data. You can do this by navigating to the SKU card and verifying the Location Code field.
    2. Purchase Order Settings: Verify the settings on the Purchase Order. Sometimes, the default Location Code might be overridden by settings on the Purchase Order itself.
    3. User Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to view and use the default Location Code. Sometimes, permission issues can prevent certain fields from auto-populating.
    4. Business Central Configuration: Check the configuration settings in Business Central. There might be a setting that controls whether the Location Code defaults automatically.
    5. Customizations or Extensions: If your Business Central environment has customizations or extensions, they might be affecting the defaulting behaviour. Review any custom code or extensions that might be in place.

    Hi John,

The location isn't updating at the moment, but I'd recommend waiting for the BC26 update. It will include new features that allow you to pre-fill some of the fields, so you won't have to enter them manually.

    Thanks
    Ramesh
