Update Sales Order Qty via ASP.NET web site

Posted on by 40

I have created an ASP.NET web page that queries sales order data from Great Plains and compares it to incoming EDI information in a Text file and/or excel spread sheet.  This gives me a quick one page view comparing Sales Orders in GP to our EDI.  I can easily see any discrpencies and what needs to be updated.

I would like to be able to update the Qty in the GP Sales Order from the web site.  ie, push a button and have the GP Sales Order QTY updated with the number I pull from the EDI.

Could someone point me in the right direction for thisho?  Can/should I use the .NET components in eConnect to do this?

 Thank you in advance,

Joe Cutchin - jcutchin@albrightim.com

    Thank you very much Sandip.

What is involved in setting up Dynamics GP Web Services?  Can you give me a brief overvew of what I need to install?  I am setting up a test server as I don't want try updates oustide if GP in production.

I am trying to get my hands around the various ways updating GP outside of the GUI (eConnect, Web Services, VS Tools, etc,) and would appreciate your thougths on the best path to take.  I am comfortable programing in ASP.NET and SQL server.

I am trying to create a way of easily viewing and updating Sales Orders based on EDI schedules.  I have been able to create a Web Site where I read an EDI order schedule of part quantities and ship dates.  I then look up the sales orders and compare them side by side in a single view by ship date.  It is very easy to see where there are differences.  The next step would be update the Sales Order QTY or ship date by pressing a button on the web site which corresponds to the row in comparison table.

Anyway, that is what I am trying to do and appreciate your thoughts/comments.

     Thanks again!

    Joe

    Joe,

eConnect can do this task , but I prefer Dynamics GP Web Services to update your SOP Qty. In eConnect if you use Lot Item it will not do the update statement you have to Delete whole transaction and Re-Create.

    Thanks
